Job Title: Business Analyst – Capital Markets (Fixed Income)
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week)
Type: Full-Time / Contract (Client Preference)
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with deep expertise in Capital Markets to join a Tier 1 financial institution within commuting distance to New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Fixed Income products, including bonds, repos, swaps, and derivatives, and a thorough understanding of the trade lifecycle and associated functions across front, middle, and back office operations.
This role is best suited for a detail-oriented and highly analytical individual who has previously worked in Tier 1 banks or top-tier investment firms, and who can bridge business needs with technology solutions in fast-paced, regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements for capital markets initiatives, with a focus on fixed income trading and operations
- Collaborate with traders, risk managers, operations, and IT stakeholders to define and optimize workflows across the trade lifecycle
- Translate complex business requirements into functional specifications and user stories for technology teams
- Support the design and implementation of system enhancements and new functionalities related to Fixed Income and derivative products
- Act as a liaison between the front office, middle office, back office, and technology teams to ensure alignment across all phases of trade processing
- Conduct impact analysis, gap assessments, and root cause investigations for trade breaks or process issues
- Facilitate UAT planning and execution in partnership with QA and business stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and risk frameworks throughout the development lifecycle
Required Skills & Experience:
- 7+ years of Business Analysis experience within Tier 1 banks, investment banks, or global asset managers
- In-depth knowledge of Fixed Income financial products: bonds, repos, interest rate swaps, credit derivatives, etc.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and PnL reconciliation
- Proven experience working across front office (trading), middle office (risk/control), and back office (operations/settlements)
- Ability to elicit and document business requirements using standard techniques (BRDs, FRDs, use cases, process flows)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and senior business stakeholders
- Experience with trading systems, OMS/EMS platforms, or post-trade systems (e.g., Murex, Calypso, MarkitWire, etc.) is a plus
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting or compliance frameworks in the capital markets space is a plus
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (required)
- MBA, CFA, or other relevant certifications (preferred but not required)
