My client is a global pharmaceutical company, and we are a leading technology-driven organization committed to providing cutting-edge solutions for high-performance computing (HPC) in the cloud. We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Enterprise Cloud HPC Engineer to work on contract directly with our end client and contribute to our mission of delivering scalable, efficient, and reliable HPC solutions in the cloud.

Job Description:
As an Enterprise Cloud HPC Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our HPC infrastructure in the cloud. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the optimal performance and scalability of our client’s cloud-based HPC solutions. Your expertise will be instrumental in leveraging Altair, Amazon ECS, Cloud Containers, and Cloud Orchestration tools to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud HPC Infrastructure Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to design and architect cloud based HPC solutions utilizing Altair, Amazon ECS, and other relevant cloud services.
  • Experience with following AWS services: EC2, RDS, EKS, S3, IAM
  • HPC Cluster Deployment: Deploy and manage high-performance computing clusters within the cloud environment, ensuring efficient resource allocation and optimal performance.
  • Containerization: Implement containerization strategies using cloud containers (e.g., Docker) to encapsulate HPC applications for scalability and ease of management.
  • Orchestration: Utilize cloud orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes) to automate the deployment, scaling, and management of HPC workloads.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and tune the HPC infrastructure for maximum performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards for data protection and privacy.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve issues related to HPC infrastructure and applications.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation, including architectural diagrams, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, data scientists, and system administrators, to align HPC solutions with business objectives.
  • Stay Current: Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to cloud HPC, Altair, Amazon ECS, and containerization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Deployment of Linux servers and storage in AWS Cloud environment.
  • Administration of the “R” programming language and R Package installations – A deep understanding of the R eco system.
  • Administration of Posit Workbench and Posit Connect platforms.
  • Knowledge of R. Shiny platform applications and administration.
  • Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing enterprise-level cloud HPC solutions.
  • Proficiency in Altair software and its integration with cloud services.
  • Hands on experience with any High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters and job schedulers (SGE, UGE, PBS).
  • Strong knowledge of Amazon ECS and other AWS services.
  • Hands on experience with Software configuration Management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef (any one of these).
  • Experience with cloud containerization technologies, such as Docker.
  • Familiarity with cloud orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards in cloud environments.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Kubernetes certifications) are a plus.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of Statistical Computing, Modeling and Analysis – a bonus
  • Hands on experience with Altair Grid Engine and Altair Navops Launch cloud orchestration.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory Groups and LDAP
  • HPC support in Computational Chemistry or Pharmaceutical R&D environments
  • Experience with NVIDIA GPU configuration
  • Experience with Prometheus and Grafana
