About the Role:

As the Director of Cloud Network Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing our client’s global network infrastructure to ensure high-quality network performance for both users and applications. This role demands a deep understanding and a proven track record of success in managing a hybrid network, encompassing traditional and cloud-based technologies. Our client is on a multi-year “Journey to the Cloud,” and you will play a pivotal role in facilitating this transition.

This role combines technical expertise in networking and cloud technology with leadership responsibilities, involving the day-to-day management of internal and external teams of Network Engineers across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Reporting directly to the VP of IT Infrastructure and Operations, this is a critical leadership position within the organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the management and operation of a global hybrid network.
  • Establish and nurture a global team of highly skilled network engineers, providing leadership and overseeing overall service delivery.
  • Ensure the delivery of stable and reliable network services by meeting optimized SLAs and promptly handling operational Projects, Incidents, Changes, and Requests.
  • Maintain operational excellence by upgrading network equipment, developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, and providing timely reporting on operational performance.
  • Drive the resolution of network-related Major Incidents efficiently and ensure quick recovery in the event of a disaster.
  • Emphasize the delivery of network performance to a hybrid user base and mission-critical applications.
  • Foster a proactive culture by identifying and addressing network issues through performance monitoring, alerting, continuous analysis, and optimization.
  • Identify and resolve underlying problems that impact network uptime and performance.
  • Enhance agility and performance by automating manual operational activities, particularly in the Cloud.
  • Collaborate closely with leaders in Operations, Global Information Security, Workplace Technology, and Applications Delivery to deliver end-to-end solutions and outcomes for the organization.
  • Serve as a mentor for the team, guiding them in continuously learning and adopting new network and cloud technologies.

Job Qualifications & Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in traditional and cloud-based networking and network security, with at least 5 years in team management.
  • Strong experience in Cloud-based networking and Cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and operations (Azure, AWS).
  • 5 or more years of experience in a large, global environment is preferred.
  • In-depth expertise and experience in the following network technology domains:

Required expertise:

  • Cloud-Based Networking (Virtual Networks, VPN Gateway, DNS, Traffic Manager/Route 53, Express Routes, Load Balancers, Private Links, Private Endpoints, Network Flow Logs, WAFs)
  • Software Defined WAN (SDWAN), Cloud WAN, Peering Points, Remote Access Services/VPN
  • Web Content Filtering (Zscaler)
  • Content Delivery Networks like Cloudflare, CloudFront, Imperva
  • IP Addressing/DDI (Schemas, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM)/ Infoblox

Highly preferred skills:

  • WiFi/Wireless Technologies, Wireless Controllers, Switches, Firewalls
  • Cisco ISE, Network Access Controls and Authentication, SSE, Zero Trust Network Access, Network Routing & Segmentation
  • Monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Thousand Eyes, Cisco DNA, PRTG

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Strongly preferred certifications in Cloud and Networking, such as:
    • AWS Certified Advanced Networking
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert
    • GCP- Associate Cloud Engineer (ACE)
    • GCP- Professional Cloud Network Engineer

Travel Requirements:

  • This position may require occasional domestic and international travel.
