Job Description:

Our client, a prestigious regional accounting firm serving the NY, CT, and NJ area, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Tax Manager to join their dynamic team in New York City. This role offers a hybrid work schedule, with three days onsite and two days working remotely from home.

 Key Responsibilities:

 Tax Compliance and Planning:

  •    Oversee the preparation and review of complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
  •    Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  •    Develop and implement strategic tax planning initiatives to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings for clients.

 Client Management:

  •    Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of high profile clients, providing exceptional service and addressing all tax related inquiries and issues.
  •    Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
  •    Assist clients with tax audits and represent them before tax authorities when necessary.

 Team Leadership:

  •    Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  •    Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and create development plans for team members.
  •    Promote a collaborative and supportive team environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and teamwork.

 Technical Expertise:

  •    Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, providing expert advice and guidance to the tax team and clients.
  •    Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues and provide well founded recommendations.
  •    Deliver training sessions and technical updates to the tax team.

 Process Improvement:

  •    Identify and implement opportunities to improve tax processes and procedures, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
  •    Leverage technology to streamline tax operations and improve service delivery.
  •    Develop and enforce best practices in tax compliance and planning.

 Qualifications:

 Education:

  •    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  •    CPA certification is required; advanced degrees (e.g., MST, JD) are a plus.

 Experience:

  •    Minimum of 7 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax.
  •    Demonstrated experience in a managerial or senior supervisory role.

 Skills:

  •    Deep technical knowledge of tax laws and regulations.
  •    Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  •    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •    Proficiency in tax preparation and accounting software.
  •    Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
